The Double L Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into The Double L Restaurant feels like slipping into a cherished corner of small-town Georgia, where time slows just enough to savor the simple, honest rhythms of a traditional American eatery. Located on Industrial Blvd in Ellijay, this spot embodies a relaxed, unpretentious pace, the kind that invites locals and visitors alike to settle in and share a meal with neighbors, friends, or even a new face at the booth.
The atmosphere hums gently with the warmth of familiar voices and the soft clinking of dishes, where the buffet line moves steadily yet with purpose — a comforting flow that encourages taking your time to pick favorites or discover daily specials. The staff’s genuine hospitality feels like an extension of home, where smiles are easy and the act of serving food is truly a shared celebration of community.
The food here carries the kind of heft and heart that feels made to nourish more than just the body. From crispy, golden fried chicken that has earned its local reputation, to hearty casseroles and fresh, seasonal vegetables, each plate is a quiet nod to the enduring traditions of Southern comfort cooking. The salad bar and a variety of sides add layers of color and flavor, inviting diners to create meals that are both familiar and full of small surprises.
Part of what makes The Double L stand out is its role as a gathering place — the long tables and easy conversations echo the spirit of family meals, where shared dishes and gentle laughter mingle with stories told across generations. On Sundays, the steady flow of guests after church service speaks to the restaurant’s deep roots in the community, offering more than just a meal, but a moment of connection.
As dessert arrives with subtle fanfare — cobblers brimming with seasonal fruit, rich puddings, and comforting pies — the pace slows again, inviting a quiet appreciation of sweet finishes and the company around the table. Whether stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely visit, The Double L Restaurant captures the joy of discovering taste, tradition, and togetherness in one welcoming place.

Great food and great people. If you want good Down Home country cooking that taste amazing with good portions at a great price go here. This is one of my favorite restaurants when going through the area. They always treat you like family.

What a blessing to our small community- a restaurant whose roots are Gilmer. Delicious country food that is easy in & out with the Piccadilly line style. Certainly well worth the wait when the line is to the door for Sunday's after church pit stop. The beef stew is decadent & hearty. Love so many desserts. My most fav is the cream corn and those scrumptious peas... holy smokes- i need a gallon. And biscuits. Whew. Thanks for all you give back to our community and those days away from your family; serving our families for Thanksgiving

We had the best meal. Everything was fresh a lot was homemade. Everyone was very nice. They are having a big Thanksgiving Day dinner from 10:30 to 2:30 on Thanksgiving Day. And we will be there!

If you want an authentic country feel when visiting Gilmer County! By all means, go to Double L… hard working folks that take great pride in servicing residents and visitors! The food is always good, and the smiles, they are always warm and welcoming! We sometimes get a big long table and the whole family meets for a meal! It’s even more fun when the locals join the table or stop for a chat! Double L is “where the locals go”! Great people! Great food!

Buffet style selection where the staff serve you your choice. You get a meat choice and then 1, 2, 3+ sides, then pay accordingly. Price is very reasonable, and food is very good southern comfort style. Absolutely worth a visit. The cornbread muffin was terrible tho.

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting breakfast here on Saturday mornings but usually eat lunch 2 to 3 days a week..... the food is delicious not overly seasoned and portions are excellent. Staff is extremely friendly. Definitely my go to place for good home country cooking. Wonderful homemade desserts to top off every meal.

My children loved the chicken tenders. Mashed potatoes were so yummy. Definitely recommend this place if visiting the area

Great, great breakfast!! I had oatmeal and I'm kind of picky but theirs was really good. Hubby had traditional eggs, bacon, gravy, grits and a biscuit. Everything was fresh and hot. We will definitely be eating here again.
